The Flameless Revolution

Course Description: The Emergency First Response Care for Children course is an innovative CPR, AED and First Aid training course that teaches participants how to provide emergency care for injured or ill children (ages one to eight) and infants less than one year old. Participants learn about the types of medical emergencies that children face, and how they differ from adult conditions. The curriculum also includes the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects of caring for children, secondary care for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children.

Emergency First Response Care for Children course trains the lay rescuer to follow the same priorities of care used by medical professionals. The student masters the priorities and the procedures of patient care for infants and children in a non-stressful learning environment, which reduces the performance anxieties that interfere with learning and enhances confidence when rendering aid in a real medical emergency.

The course includes both primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) skills. The primary care portion of the course prepares the rescuer to render aid to an infant or child with a life-threatening emergency such as choking or cardiac arrest. Secondary care focuses on developing secondary patient care skills and building the rescuer's confidence to render first aid to an infant or child in need when emergency medical services are either delayed or unavailable. The Care for Children course content is based on guidelines from the Pediatric Working Group of ILCOR.

Care for Children Primary Care Course Content: Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions-Communicable Disease Protection & Barrier Use Primary Assessment Obstructed Airway Management (child and infant) Rescue Breathing (child and infant) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (child and infant) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use Serious Bleeding Shock Management Spinal Injury Management.

Care for Children Secondary Care Course Content: Injury Assessment, Bandaging and Illness Assessment.

About the Instructor: Patric Spohn started his outdoor career as a scuba instructor in 1991. Since then, he taught first aid courses to students who participated in the PADI Rescue Diver course. Patric ceased his scuba activities in 2006, while still maintaining his status as an Emergency First Response instructor. Patric is currently running a cozy adventure campsite in the mountains of Haruna in Gunma.

Tucked in a dense grove of trees sits Kozy Kabins.  A camp dedicated to outdoor adventures in Japan.  Surrounded by a sea of trees your child will be secluded from the sounds of the city.  It's the perfect place to investigate and explore natural surroundings.  The main road is blocked from oncoming traffic.  Your child can play freely without worrying about cars or trucks whizzing by.

Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures have four clear, distinct seasons, making it the perfect place for enjoying amazing outdoor weekends.  Each season there are many interesting places to visit, exciting adventures, and things to do.  Our members love living around Tokyo during the week, then getting out for fresh air and fun activities on the weekend.  We aim to organize weekend trips and activities on an irregular basis for the purpose of having fun and fulfilled weekends with like-minded people, enabling us to recharge our batteries to get through the coming (tough?) week!

Most of our activities or trips have small groups (5-15 people depending on the activity).  This is the perfect size for easily getting to know your fellow weekenders.  Often more than half of participants are individuals and first-timers, and many of them are likely to become repeaters.  Males, females, individuals, and groups of any nationality, who respect locals and other people, who are easygoing, and love being outdoors are invited to join our group.

パトリックは5月27日に40歳を迎えます。40歳は特別な歳なので夕方17時から誕生日を迎える夜まで森の中のダンスに皆さんをご招待したいと思います。日没のダンススケジュールは土曜日の18時からです。誕生日の乾杯をした後は4つのバンガローを無料で使えますのでみんなで雑魚寝して下さい。寝袋、歯ブラシ、バーベキュー用のお肉や飲み物は持参して下さい。音楽は日曜日の朝からお昼ぐらいまでまた流します。

渋谷から13時ごろ湘南新宿線に乗り、高崎に到着(約2000円)高崎から榛名湖行きの最終バスは15時30分(約1000円)に出発します。森には16時30分頃到着です。テントを組み立てたり、焚き火用の木を切って下さい。

パトリックからのお願いは一人500円DJの貢献にお支払いいただけると嬉しいです。この旅行は全部含めて1万円かかりません。勿論、冒険も含まれています。

お子様は何歳でも大歓迎です。週末を家族と楽しんで下さい。

Patric will be turning 40 on May 27.  It feels like a special number so he’d like to invite you for a dance in the woods from 5pm to midnight the day before.  Sunset dance scheduled for 6pm on Saturday, May 26.  After a “prost” at midnight everyone is welcome to wildly mingle in one of 4 bungalows, for free.  Bring your sleeping bag, toothbrush, steak, and drinks.  Music restarts in time for breakfast on Sunday morning and finishes around noon.

Depart by LATEST 1pm from Shibuya heading straight to Takasaki (2,000 Yen) on the Shonan-Shinjuku / Takasaki Line.  The last bus heading for Mt Haruna (1,000 Yen) departs from Takasaki at 3:30pm.  You'll then arrive in the woods by 4:30pm.  Time to set up your tent and make firewood.

Patric asks for a mere 500 Yen DJ contribution per person.  That's all.  This 24h field trip shouldn't cost you more than 10,000 Yen all-in-all.  Fun and adventures guaranteed.

Tokyo, Chiba, and Gunma: Anyone up for a brief weekday vacation? I'll be up in the woods from March 16 to 19 with little Felix. American hippies from the 70s with dogs are enjoying the campsite up at Mt Haruna. Are you ready to break free?  Or still think you're the only one so busy?

Definitely more time was spent outside back in the 70s.  A time when phones and TVs were not transportable.  And if you were forced by any given situation to go back in time, you'd adjust in a matter of months, weeks, if not days.  What do you say?

The student masters the priorities and the procedures of patient care for infants and children in a non-stressful learning environment, which reduces the performance anxieties that interfere with learning and enhances confidence when rendering aid in a real medical emergency.

The course includes both primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid) skills. The primary care portion of the course prepares the rescuer to render aid to an infant or child with a life-threatening emergency such as choking or cardiac arrest. Secondary care focuses on developing secondary patient care skills and building the rescuer's confidence to render first aid to an infant or child in need when emergency medical services are either delayed or unavailable. The Care for Children course content is based on guidelines from the Pediatric Working Group of ILCOR.

Care for Children Primary Care Course Content: Scene Safety Assessment Universal Precautions-Communicable Disease Protection & Barrier Use Primary Assessment Obstructed Airway Management (child and infant) Rescue Breathing (child and infant) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (child and infant) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use Serious Bleeding Shock Management Spinal Injury Management.

Care for Children Secondary Care Course Content: Injury Assessment, Bandaging and Illness Assessment.

The Instructor: Patric Spohn started his outdoor career as a scuba instructor in 1991. Since then, he taught first aid courses to students who participated in the PADI Rescue Diver course. Patric ceased his scuba activities in 2006, while still maintaining his status as an Emergency First Response instructor. Patric is currently running a cozy adventure campsite in the mountains of Haruna in Gunma.
